THE RESULTS OF THE APPLICATION OF AN ANGER MANAGEMENT TRAINING PROGRAM ACCORDING TO THE BUDDHIST METHOD OF THE THIRD YEAR SECONDARY SCHOOL IN BANGKOK

Abstract

 

ABSTRACT

 

The research aimed to (1.) study the effects of Anger Management Program according to Buddha’s method on students in high school education (M.3), academic year 2011, Satriwittaya 2 School, Bangkok, and (2) comparatively study the differences of anger of students participating in Anger Management Program according to Buddha’s method, before and after experiment.   

Research population consisted of 231 students in high school education (M.3), academic year 2011, Satriwittaya 2 School, Bangkok. The sample contained 30 students with high-score anger, separated into experiment group and control group. Each one consisted of 15 individuals. Research tools consisted of Anger Management Program according to Buddha’s method and Anger Test. Data analysis used descriptive statistics such as percentage, mean, and standard deviation for general information and Paired Samples Test was used for analyzing the differences of anger of students in high school education (M.3) in experiment group and control group.

 

     The findings showed as follows.

                  Regarding anger comparison, for students in high school education (M.3) in experiment group, before and after experiment, it was found that after participation in Anger Management Program according to Buddha’s way, the factors in anger reaction, anger tools, and anger control before and after experiment were different with statistical significance at .05 level. 

              In control group, there was no difference before and after experiment with statistical significance.

     Anger Management Program according to Buddha’s method was designed suitably for students in both contents and Dharma principles such as Ariyasacca 4 and Yonisomanasikāra to create cognitive processes that suited objectives, main ideas, time length, and modernity of learning media. Most activities put emphasis on the practice of mindfulness to suit individual characteristic behavior, especially for Anger Management Program, which aimed to encourage students to learn anger management according to Buddha’s method such as Ariyasacca 4 concerning Dukkha (anger), Samudaya (cause of anger), Nirodha (no anger), and Magga (the way leading to cessation of suffering).
