A Guideline of Learning Management to Develop Honesty Characteristics of Junior High School Students under Nonthaburi Secondary Educational Service Area Office 3

Abstract

The objectives of this research were; 1) to study the state of desirable characteristics development of students, 2) to study principles and methods of learning management, and 3) to propose a guideline of honesty characteristics development of junior high school students under Nonthaburi Secondary Educational Service Area Office 3. The mixed research methodology was used in the study. The quantitative data were collected by questionnaires from 375 samples and the qualitative data were obtained from in-depth interviews with 5 key-informants.

              The results of the study found that:

              1.  The state of desirable characteristics development of students was at a moderate level overall and in aspects.

              2. In principles and methods of learning management, schools set up vision, mission, and goal of the schools. Mostly, vision was focused on moral and ethic promotion and the schools also had strategy to promote it. The school administrators, teachers, students’ parents, and community participated in students’ desirable characteristics development. The Buddhist principles used in supporting honesty development were moral shame, moral dread, 3 right conducts, and the Eightfold Path.

              3. The guidelines of honesty characteristics development of junior high school students under Nonthaburi Secondary Educational Service Area Office 3 were as follows:

              3.1 To develop the moral course separate from the course contents in present curriculum.

              3.2 To integrate desirable characteristics development activities in every subject contents in order to develop knowledge and characteristics of students together.

              3.3 To arrange extra-curricular activities regularly to enhance desirable characteristics of students.

              3.4 To arrange special activities other than extra-curricular activities in occasions to remind students in developing themselves. These activities should cooperated by school, temple, family, and community and there should be regular evaluation to follow up students’ development and to lead to sustainable development.
