Senior Citizen Welfare Administrative Achievement of Lumkhao Sub-District Administrative Organization, Nonsung District, Nakhonratchasima Province

Abstract

This research is aimed 1. to study the senior citizen welfare administrative achievement of Lumkhao sub-district administrative organization, Nonsung district, Nakhonratchasima province, 2. to compare the opinions of the seniors on the senior citizen welfare administrative achievement of Lumkhao sub-district administrative organization, Nonsung district, Nakhonratchasima province classified by personal factors, 3. to study the relationship between well-being factors of the senior citizen and the senior citizen welfare administrative achievement of Lumkhao sub-district administrative organization, Nonsung district, Nakhonratchasima province, 4. to study the problems, obstacles, and suggestions for the seniors about the senior citizen welfare administrative achievement of  Lumkhao sub-district administrative organization, Nonsung district, Nakhonratchasima province. The research methodology is mixed method by quantitative,which has both confidence values, is at 0.993 from the sample of 322 senior citizen in Lumkhao sub-district. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, T-test, F-test, and One-Way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient analysis, and qualitative research. Used in-depth interviews with 12 key informants, analyzed data by descriptive content analysis.


 

Research findings were as follows:

1. Achievement level for the senior citizen welfare administration of Lumkhao sub-district administrative organization, Nonsung district, Nakhonratchasima province, was overall at a high level ( = 4.18, S.D. = 0.496). In each aspect, it was found that the modern management system was at a high level ( = 4.18, S.D. = 0.492), the senior were well taken care by the government and community at a high level ( = 4.17, S.D.= 0.521), the senior and citizen were satisfied at a high level ( = 4.23, S.D.= 0.417), the senior citizen supported place was at a high level ( = 4.16, S.D.= 0.529).

2. The comparison of opinions of the senior citizens on the classified by personal factors, it was found that the senior citizen with different ages had different opinions at the 0.01 level statistical significance. Thus it concordantly served the  research hypothesis, As, the senior citizen who have different sex, education, and income, had not different opinions. Therefore, the research hypothesis was rejected.

3. The relationship between well-being factors of the senior citizen and the senior citizen welfare administrative achievement of Lumkhao sub-district administrative organization, Nonsung district, Nakhonratchasima province was found that well-being factors had a positive relationship with the senior citizen welfare administrative achievement in the overall at a high level (R = 0.940).

4. The problems, obstacles, and suggestions for the senior citizen welfare administrative achievement were; 1) the senior can access the service system with modern technology slowly, 2) lack of budget for senior care that they can live as long as possible, and good life quality, 3) the senior citizen were not cared for and had to use a nursing home. In the future, Thai society may become a Western society, which is they live separately, without mutual favor, no obligation, then the children growing up will not threat their parents when they are old, 4) lack of care for hygienic housing. Suggestions; 1) should promote and support the development and empowerment of senior care groups and provide training program for knowledges, 2) should develop the role of family members and community in the senior caring, 3) should have the person those who are close to the senior, such as children, relatives or society officials, must educate about health care by providing information on the correct health care methods, giving advice on health problems, or how to promote health for the elderly thoroughly, 4) The government sector should support the provision of knowledge about proper and safe housing arrangements for the senior citizen.
