An Appplication of the Principle of Buddhadhamma of Aging People in Nai-Muenng Sub-District, Mueang District, Nakhon Phanom Province

Abstract

The purposes of this research were: 1) to study the supervision of the health of the aging people in the modern society, 2) to study the state and the problems of the supervision of the aging people in the territory of Muang Sub-district, Muang District, Nakhonphanom Province and, 3) to study the way to apply the principle of Buddhadhamma in the supervision of the aging people in the territory of Muang Sub-district, Nakhonphanom Province. This research is the qualitative research by studying the data from the documents and to interview the key informants and to report by using the descriptive analysis.

The results of the research were found that the aging people mean the people who are in the 60 years old up. The appropriate Buddhadhamma for the aging people in order to apply for the lives and for the beneficial happiness from the first step to practice, that is, the principle of Characteristics of Existence concerning the supervision of aging people, namely, to accept the facts that occurs both positive and negative and to accept the suffering that occurs by adhering to practice in accordance with the principle of

Buddhadhamma in order to sustain the old people’s ages both the physical and spiritual health. The principle of carefulness makes people careful in the properties that are used as advantages, not to insult others and the principle of the Bases of Meritorious Actions that are the principle of Buddha’s teachings applied for suitability.

For the states and the problems of supervision of aging people in the territory of Muang Sub-district, Nakhonphanom Province, the physical problems give effect to the health of aging people are found in the high level, that is, it is the decay of the body, to work too hard, to have meals in accordance with their own satisfaction and their own diseases, the spiritual and emotional problems. Somebody is afraid of ignorance, to be afraid of loneness and some are in the permeative diseases, cannot protect the mind with the occurring situation, to have the family problems, and the social problems. The general employees have the less chance to participate in the society. Some have the family problems and are the representative of the offspring who goes to work and to take care of everything in the houses. Some are sick and cannot participate in society. The family has the conflict and does not understand between the offspring and the aging persons.

The application of the principle of Buddhadhamma for the supervision of the health of aging people in the Municipality of Muang Sub-district, Muang District, Nakhonphanom Province was found that the happiness in accordance with the principle of Buddhadhamma does not only emphasize the human beings to have the happiness but also  to realize of the impact that will occur continuously to oneself, family, society, and environment and the principle of Buddhadham that is adhered to practice for the way of life should enhance and solve the problems in the physical aspect in order to refine their own defilements. Ones should try to do goodness in order to control the behaviors in every aspects and to protect them from doing any evils for the sake of the modern happiness and after passing away from this world by practicing as follows: 1) to solve the physical problems and to accept the fact with the occurrence that everybody must face it. It is not only up to us, but also for the other persons who believe in the law of Kamma, that is, to do goodness, to receive the good results, to do badness, to receive the bad results, not to be carelessness, 2) to solve the spiritual and emotional problems, to practice the precepts, to listen to Dhamma, to be endurance, to reduce the hatred, greed, to develop the mindfulness and to assist the society. 3) to solve the social and family problems, to have the optimistic vision, to understand to be sympathetic , to honor others, not to insult other, to avoid the conflict problems, to give alms, to assist others, to enjoy the others doing goodness, to pay respect to the family and friends” goodness and 4) to solve the economic problems and earnings, to be careful in spending the properties, to live in appropriate way, to spend the necessary things, to live economically and to make oneself in easy-going.
