An Analysis of Teaching Method by Means of Buddhist Way of Khuangnai Charoenrat School, Khuangnai Sub-District, Ubon Ratchathani Province

Abstract

The aims of this thesis were: 1) to study of the Buddhist Oriented Schools; 2) to study the Buddhist teaching method of Khuangnai Charoenrat School, Khuangnai district, Ubon Ratchathani province; 3) to analyze the teaching method by means of the Buddhist way of the school. This study employed a method of qualitative research to collect the data from the relevant research and in-depth interview of the set target. The data then were interpreted by means of the descriptive analysis.

                 The research results were as follows:

                 The Buddhist oriented school is the school that uses and applies Buddhist teachings in administration and student development according to the principles of the Three Buddhist Learning Modes (tisikkhā): precept, meditation, wisdom. The students were developed through all the activities ‘eating, living, looking, listening, being’ and having the wisdom to understand in the true values.

                 Khuangnai Charoenrat School has the learning and teaching process applied with the Buddhist teaching method that allowed the students to learn the ethical principles related to the principles of society (precepts), peace (meditation) and to create the human resource endowed with consciousness and wisdom (wisdom). The school organized the training activities according to traditions or cultures in each month to educate the youth about the Buddhist principles, dhamma and ethics.

                 The administrators, teachers and personnel of Khuangnai Charoenrat School gave an importance to the student development, according to Buddhist ways in the positions of the trainers, preachers, learning providers and a good example of good behaviors. All personnel have been developed based on the Buddhist Three Learning Modes so that they have good knowledge in Dhamma, perform good deeds in collaboration with school and community. This leads the school to earn many achievements such as National Youth Award, Regional Ethical School Award and Best Teacher Award. The moral training project of the school has the reputation in teaching people morality, creating the moral and ethical community, promoting volunteer mind for students, developing their quality of life, happiness and building the good citizens for this country.
