Abstract

       The aims of this research were: 1) to study the Buddhist model of strong community development; 2) to study the conditions of strong community development of Kalasin Moral Development Center, Pa Nakham Temple, Chum Chang sub-District, Kuchinarai district, Kalasin province; 3) to analyze to study the Buddhist model of strong community development of Kalasin Morality Development Center, Pa Nakham Temple. This documentary research was conducted through the study of documents, academic works, texts, thesis and relevant research together with the fieldwork study (field research) to collect the data by means of interviews before the obtained data were interpreted by the descriptive analysis.

The research results revealed that the strong community development model is a process to build a community that aims to promote people to have a better quality of life in all aspects beginning with the people as the initiator of development with as much self-reliance and supplementing with outside help as necessary. The development is the growth or improvement both material and mental aspects, therefore, it can be called ‘complete development’ because life consists of body and mind.

    Strong community development conditions of the Kalasin Moral Development Center, Pa Na Kham Temple, is a rural development that monks carry out a project that covers both worldly and religious stories. Particularly, most development projects are related to people's livelihood by applying the principles of Buddhism and the principles of sufficiency economy to create a strong community.

    The model of strong community development of the Kalasin Moral Development Center, Pa Na Kham Temple uses the principles of Buddhism and the principles of sufficiency economy with a new theory of agriculture project for the development of strong communities in 5 areas: 1) Mental aspect, having a strong mind to make themselves dependent, a good conscience with generosity, honesty, and mutual benefits;2) Economic aspect, knowing to reduce expense, adhering to the principles of sufficiency and being able to live on their own, not being debt, having a better status; 3) Resources and environment aspect, it is an environmental practice to preserve the environment; not encroach and do not use chemical pesticides, do not destroy the soil condition; 4) Technology aspect, to know the true value which is the advantage of using artificial technology; that is the use to satisfy passions; technology comes with both good and bad sides, therefore, technology must be used by wisdom; 5) Social aspect, it is the society that depends on each other with harmony, and connects the network according to the Buddhist development principles.
