Abstract

The thesis entitled “An Analysis on the Role in Education of Phrathepkittimuni (Somkiat Samakitti) towards Buddhist Sangha in Ubon Ratchathani Province” has 3 objectives as follows: 1) To study social condition in education of Buddhist Sangha in Ubonratchathani Province and the impressive persons that inspire the interest in education of Phrathepkittimuni (Somkiat Samakitti); 2) To study the life and portfolio in education of Phrathepkittimuni (Somkiat Samakitti); and 3) To analytically study the role in education of Phrathepkittimuni (Somkiat Samakitti) towards Buddhist Sangha in Ubon Ratchathani Province. This research is a qualitative field research through in-depth interviewing the academics and monks at governance level. The total number of interviewees is 27 monks/persons.

The results of this research found that Ubon ratchathani Province is the land of sages because education is available in all levels specially education welfare for monks. Temples have the central role in education that is very significant for social development. Phrathepkittimuni (Somkiat Samakitti) is one of the monks who had a visible role in dedication for education among the people in Ubon Ratchathani Province. He took a typical and inspirational model in education from former dedicated monks for instance Phraphimoldhamma (Aj Asapho) Phrarajrattanobon (Phim Naratho) Phrarajpreechayanamuni (Nuan Khemmacharee) and Phradhammavisudhacharn (Lew Samano).
