Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this research was to study, compare and develop the leadership of the administrators and personnel according to the Sappurisa-dhamma (sapurisa-dhamma: qualities of a good man) in Phrapariyatti dhamma schools, general education, in Khon Kaen province. The samples of this research were 188 of the administrators and personnel in the schools, selected by Krejcie and Morgan’ method. The tool used to collect the data was a rating scale questionnaire with its reliability value of .99. The statistics used in data analysis were: Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, t-test (Independent Sample), f-test (One-Way ANOVA) and Least Significant Difference (LSD).

The research results indicated that the statistic scores of the leadership practices based on the dhamma in overall and each aspect perspectives were at a high level; the highest can be seen in the aspects of ‘Dhammaññutā (knowing the law)’, followed by ‘Kālaññutā: knowing the proper time’, and the least was that of ‘Puggalaññutā (knowing the individual’.

The comparative scores of the leadership practices based on the dhamma, classified by the samples’ factors: status, education and working experiences in overall and each aspect were indifferent.

The ways to develop the leadership based on the dhamma in the studied schools are that the administrators should set and develop the policies of administration according to the principles of ‘Attaññutā (knowing oneself)’ and ‘Atthaññutā (knowing the consequence) as the guideline to develop the effectiveness of educational administration leading to the sustainable educational personnel development; to be the information for the educational personnel development in the schools to set up the policies emphasizing on the Sappurisa-dhamma in both mentioned aspects plus Kālaññutā; the school administrators should set and develop a policy of ethical and moral promotion for their employees as a guideline for mental development along with the development of education as well; this is interesting to learn so it should be organized in order to make teachers, administrators and students have skills to practice more clearly. It is expected that it will be useful and very effective in developing and learning new things that can be adapted to daily life as well as in the management of life, oneself and work.
