Abstract

 

                      This thesis has 2 objectives namely: 1) to study the happiness of the Buddhist laities from the mediation practice at Wat Omnoi, Omnoi Sub-District, Kratumbaen District, Samutsakhon Province, 2) to study the obstacles and recommendations of the meditation practice on the Buddhist laities at Wat Omnoi, Omnoi  Sub-District, Kratumbaen District, Samutsakhon Province. The data were collected from 108 representative samples. The tools used were questionnaires with the coefficient of confidence equivalent to 0.90.

            The study revealed that an analysis results of meditation practice affecting the happiness of Buddhist laities in both aspects namely: 1) physical happiness, and 2) psychological happiness. It found that Buddhist laities gave priority to the happiness of the meditation practice as a whole which shown as High ( = 4.49, SD = 0.55). When considering each items, the Buddhist laities had the highest level of mental happiness ( = 4.63, SD = 0.51). The Buddhist laities’ comment at the highest level was ‘the meditation practice helped mental health and the feeling of relaxation ( = 4.73, S.D. = 0.57).’ Next on down, ‘the Buddhist laities had the highest level of physical happiness’ which were ( = 4.35, S.D. = 0.59). The item that the Buddhist laities gave their opinions at the highest level was ‘the meditation practice helped to have a sense of sufficiency; satisfied of what they had’ ( = 4.60, S.D. = 0.68). For the problems  and the suggestions, the Buddhist laities gave the most opinions were that ‘it was not convenient to attend the meditation practice by oneself’ accounted for 28.57%.
