The objectives of the research were (1) to study insight meditation according to Phrakhru Bhavananusat’s method (Paen Dhammadharo), (2) to study principle and method involving with insight meditation practice according to Theravada Buddhism’s scriptures, (3) to study model and practical method of insight meditation in Thailand, and to study model and practical method according to Phrakhru Bhavananusat’s method (Paen Dhammadharo).

The research was a qualitative research from which the information was derived from documentary research.

               The findings were as followed:

          1. According to insight meditation practice in Theravada Buddhism’s scriptures, the meditators must follow the principle of Mahasatipatthana Sutta 4 included: The contemplation and observing of body in the body, the contemplation and observing of feeling in the feeling, the contemplation and observing of mind in mind, the contemplation and observing of Dhamma in Dhamma.

How to practice insight meditation according to Theravada Buddhism is Dhamma practice according to Mahasatipatthana 4 which is the best method for development of purified wisdom and enlightenment of concrete and abstract with real realization of Buddhist trinity including the four noble truths and the noble eightfold paths leading to Nirvana attainment. Because of these all defilements would have been extinguished from the mind completely. In addition, 4 kinds of Dhamma being the great component of Mahasatipatthana 4 included: Viriya (effort) is the Dhamma to encourage the meditators to be concentrate on present concrete and abstract with physical and mental effort, Sati (Mindfulness) is the Dhamma to follow the concrete and abstract in continuation basis without stopping, Samathi (Concentration) is to stand still controlled by mindfulness, and Panya (Wisdom) is to make special realization in each natural condition clearly, all those 4 kinds of Dhamma are as if the micro scope to help human beings see natural conditions as they really are.

          2. There are two main models of insight meditation practice in Thailand namely: The first model belongs to Dhammayutika Nikaya, this nikaya prefers to make brikornrnam prayer by saying “ Bud-dho “ which is started with sitting mediation, walking meditation, and then making the small deportment established by Luang Poo Man Phuridatto, and another model belongs to Maha Nikaya this nikaya prefers to make brikornrnam prayer by saying “Rising-falling” being established by Phra Sophana Mahathera or Venerable Maha Sisayadaw, the Myanmese monk, he has used 6 phases for walking meditation, that is sitting mediation with brikornrnam prayer and with various types of the deportment in continuation all days long.

On the other hand, there are 5 outstanding insight meditation offices in Thailand included: Office of insight meditation of Wat Pa Ban Tat, this office prefers to make brikornrnam prayer by saying “Bud-dho”, office of insight meditation of Wat Than Nan Lai (Suan Mokkha Phalaram), its brikornrnam prayer method is “Mindfulness of breathing”, office of insight meditation of Wat Ampawan, its brikornrnam prayer method is “Rising-falling”, office of insight meditation of Wat Phra Dhammakaya, its brikornrnam prayer method is “Samma-Arahang”, and the center of insight meditation of Ajahn Narayan Koenkar, there is no any brikornrnam prayer at all.

As for the model and practical method of insight meditation teaching of Phrakhru Bhavananusat (Paen Dhamma Dharo), he has emphasized on the principle of Mahasatpatthana 4 included: Kaya (Body), Vedana (Feeling), Citta (Mind or Consciousness), and Dhamma ( Dhamma or Mental object).

As matter of fact, how to operate the insight meditation is mindfulness development, that is to say; we have to use mindfulness to control our physical moving in every step of various deportment for instance; sitting, walking, standing, and lying, and for small deportment, the mindfulness has to be daily developed for all steps of physical moving.
