A Study of Student Development Based on Tisikkha in Ban Jun Kindergarten School, Muangsakaeo District, Sakaeo Province

Abstract

 

ABSTRACT

           The research consisted of three main objectives: i) to study development of students based on Tisikkha in Ban Jun Kindergarten School, Muangsakaeo District, Sakaeo Province; ii) to compare level of development of students based on Tisikkha in Ban Jun Kindergarten School, Muangsakaeo District, Sakaeo Province; and iii) to study problems, obstacles and suggestions in development of students based on Tisikkha in Ban Jun Kindergarten School, Muangsakaeo District, Sakaeo Province. This research was used by Mixed Methods in which the Quantitative Research was used to determine Survey Research. The sampling group was 252 students of classes 4–6 in Ban Jun Kindergarten School, Muangsakaeo District, Sakaeo Province. The collected data were analyzed by using statistical techniques for social science research such as Frequencies, Percentage, Mean and Standard Deviation. To test the hypotheses, t-test, F-Test (One Way Analysis of Variance) and Least Significant Difference : LSD were employed. On the other hand, an analysis of interview-data from 16 Key Informants was used by the Context Content Analysis Technique.

           The findings of the study are as follows:

           1. From the study, the development of students based on Tisikkha in Ban Jun Kindergarten School, Muangsakaeo District, Sakaeo Province was totally found at the great level (4.41). Having considered each aspect, it was found that the aspect of Samadhi (Concentration) in greatest levels at 4.53, aspect of Silas (Precepts) at 4.42 and aspect of Panna (Wisdom) at 4.30, respectively.

           2. From the study of development of students based on Tisikkha in Ban Jun Kindergarten School, Muangsakaeo District, Sakaeo Province classified by personal factors, it was found that difference of students’ gender, age, level of education, family status and parents’ occupation had effects to the development of students based on Tisikkha in Ban Jun Kindergarten School, Muangsakaeo District, Sakaeo Province, with statistical significance at the level of 0.05 accepting formulated hypotheses.

           3. Problems and Suggestions in the development of students based on Tisikkha in Ban Jun Kindergarten School, Muangsakaeo District, Sakaeo Province were as follows: in aspect of Silas (Precepts), the school lacks cooperation in solving problems happened to students; the suggestion: there should be cooperation with other agencies to resolve the problems happened to students, and school should establish a network of partners to develop wisdom to students.

 

           In aspect of Samadhi (Concentration), the school has trained meditation for students, but not good enough, and lacks to promote mental development through continuous meditation; suggestion: the school should train students to be encouraged in studying for the sake of achieving their goals and should promote mental development through continuous meditation.

          In aspect of Panna (Wisdom), the school also lacks knowledge promoting wisdom and training wisdom from monks regularly, and lacks training students to think of step in the troubleshooting process and thoughtful; suggestion: the school should provide knowledge promoting wisdom and training wisdom from monks regularly and there should be a monk to teach morality in school continuously.
