A Study of Factors Affecting an Application of Sangahavathu IV for Community Administration of the Luecha Police Flat, Phayathai District, Bangkok

Abstract

 

ABSTRACT

          The research consisted of three objective, namely: 1) to study the level of an application of Sangahavathu IV (Four Objects of Sympathy) for the Luecha police flat’s community Administration, Phaya Thai District, Bangkok; 2) to study the factors which affected an application of Sangahavathu IV for the Luecha police flat’s community Administration, Phaya Thai District, Bangkok; and 3) to study problems and obstacles, as well as recommendations on application of  Sangahavathu IV for the Luecha police flat’s community Administration, Phaya Thai District, Bangkok.   This present study employed a Mixed Method with both Quantitative, with a survey, and qualitative research methodologies. The study sample consisted of 287 people who lived in area of the Luecha police flat’s community Administration, Phaya Thai District, Bangkok. The subjects were recruited based on the sample size of Taro Yamane.  The instrument used in data collection was a questionnaire. The data were analyzed in terms of Frequency, Percentage, Mean and Standard Deviation. Inferential statistics of t-test were used to determine the differences in mean scores of both groups, and One Way ANOVA was used to determine the differences in mean scores among three groups or more. Finally, the Least Significant Difference (LSD) was employed to test the differences between means of each pair. As for qualitative methodology, the structured in-depth interviews were used with 9 key Informants, and data were analyzed by means of descriptive interpretation.

          The study findings revealed that

          1) The factors affected an application of Sangahavathu IV for the Luecha police flat community administration, Phaya Thai District, Bangkok were personal factors that majority of sample were 157 female on average of 54.7 percent, 119 ones aging between the 26-35 on average of 41.5 percent, 89 ones educated bachelor degree 34.1 percent, 97 ones worked as governmental/private sectors 33.8 percent, and 93 ones earned more than 15,000 baht a month on average of 32.4 percent.

 

2) When comparing the opinions of people toward the factors which affected an application of Sangahavathu IV for the Luecha police flat’s community Administration, Phaya Thai District, Bangkok classified by personal factors - gender, age, educational level, occupation, and income, it was found that people with different gender had no different opinions toward an application of Sangahavathu IV for the Luecha police flat’s community Administration, Phaya Thai District, Bangkok, denying the formulated hypothesis. However, those with different age, education, occupation, and income had different opinions toward an application of Sangahavathu IV of the Luecha police flat’s community Administration, Phaya Thai District, Bangkok with statistical significance at 0.05 level accepting formulated hypotheses.

          3) As regards problems and obstacles, as well as recommendations on an application of Sangahavathu IV for the Luecha police flat’s community Administration, Phaya Thai District, Bangkok, it is recommended that they should apply the principle of Sangahavathu IV – Dāna (Generosity), Piyavācā (Kindly Speech), Atthacariyā (Useful Conduct), and Samānattatā (Even and Equal Treatment), in management and community development. The officers should expand into the everyday practice of the administration. Including, the satisfaction was broken to subscribers to the service and sent feedback to people who gave services and said that service is like relative, people are treated like familymembers. The administrative staff should practice honesty and self-discipline. They should work with the people and open opportunity for people, giving suggestion forsolutions to problems. And finally, people should be provided a chance to give some opinions in order to present problems and some needs for community, and develop themselves and community.
