Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this research was: 1) to study the roles in supporting and protection of Buddhism the King Borommakot 2) to study the roles in supporting and protection Buddhism the Emperor Tang Taichung and 3) to compare the role of patron and protector of Buddhism of, the King by Borommakot with the Emperor Tang Taichung. The research findings were as follows:

The roles in supporting and protection Buddhism by the King Borommakot was found that Buddhism in the King Borommakot period was flourishing. He sent monks to inherit Buddhism in Lanka. In this, there are buildings temples, Buddha images, pagodas and sanctuaries. Buddhist ordination for study and practicing becomes an important tradition and strictly practiced that for there who will be noblemen, he must enters the monkhood before receiving status of nobleman. He sent ministry of Sangha to help for restore Buddhism in Lanka (Ceylon) including two cardinals, Phra Upali and Phra Ariyamuni with twelve monastic Priests. He died on 2301 B.E., aged 77 years, Hawing reigned for 26 years.

The roles in supporting and protection Buddhism of the Emperor Tang Taichung was found out that as a Raja of the country, he was the Emperor who has practical missions more. He was an agent or symbol of the country, model of citizen, Being recognized the best magistrate in history of China. He was one devoted to the Buddha, supported and protected Buddhism in China to prosper until now, it became a national cultural heritage of nation in all sides and dimensions.
