Abstract

Abstract

This thesis is of 3 objectives, namely:- to study the enlightenment of the Dhammas appearing in Theravāda Buddhist Scriptures, to study the doctrinal principle and the principle of practice to attain the Dhamma as appearing in Tharavāda Buddhist Scriptures and to study the enlightenment of the Dhammas by Phra Anāgāmī as appearing in Theravāda Buddhist Scriptures , by studying the data from Theravāda Buddhist Scriptures:- the three Baskets, the Commentaries, the Sub-Commentaries and other connected Scriptures such as Visuddhimagga Scripture etc. and they are checked by the experts.

From the research, it is found as fallows: the attainment of the Dhamma is the attainment of 9 Lokuttara Dhammas which are the Doctrines which are not worldly, that is the state of being away from the world. Such the doctrines are 4 Maggas, 4 Phalas and 1 Nibbhāna which cause a human beings to reach the state of being the Noble one. When it is set in order from the lowest ones to the highest ones, they are Sotāpanna, Sakadāgāmī, Anāgāmī and Arahant.

The Doctrinal principles and the principles of practice to attain the Dhammas are the practice by developing the Four Foundations of Mindfulness which are the single ways consisting of Kāyānupassanā Satipaṭṭhāna, Vedanānupasssanā Satipaṭṭhāna, Cittānupassanā Satipaṭṭhāna, and Dhammānupassanā Satipaṭṭhāna with the support from Bodhipakkhiya-Dhammas with the help from Vipassanā-ñāna and Magga ñāna arising from the training the mind.When the mind single recollects the Doctrinal state and is of strong concentration in the Doctrinal state and is of the excellent effort, the wisdom arising together with the mindfulness and the concentration can develop strongly in order.There are two types of practice. They are 1) Sukkhavipassaka which means the one who is of the dry-visioned Arahanta. That is the one who does not attain Jhāna , but is the one who developes only Vipassanā Meditation 2) Samathayānika is the one who has Samathā as Jhāna. That is to say one who develops Samatha up to attaining the Jhāna Samāpatti is the Noble one.

The attainment of each level of the Dhammas can get rid of the defilement in order, from the rough defilements up to the delicate defilements with 10 Saṁyojanas which bind the human beings not to go out of the suffering in the circle of birth and death. Which is the same as the rope tying the beasts and the materials not to be away from another with 5 Dhammas:-Craving, View and Pride which are against the practice of the Dhammas. When Vipassanāñāna is strong, the practiser can get rid of Saṅyojanas and different Anusayas according to the power of Magga and can attain the Magga and Phala and can be the Noble one in Theravāda Buddhism in order. One who can attain the Dhammas to be Phra Anāgāmī, can get rid of all Orambhāgiya Saṁyojanas which are the lower ones which are Sakkāyadiṭṭhi, Vicikicchā, Sīlabbataparāmāsa, Kamarāga and Paṭigha. The attainment of Arahattamagga which is the material for killing the defilement is the wish and the urging matter causing the Anāgāmī to do good things for ever
