MUNITY DEVELOPMENT BY BUDDHIST INTEGRATION OF SIRATTANA SUB-DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY, SIRATTANA DISTRICT, SISAKET PROVINCE

Abstract

 The objectives of this research were to; 1) To study the opinions ot people to  community development by Buddhist integration of Sirattana Sub-District, Sirattana District, Sisaket Province, 2) compare the people’s opinions about the community development by Buddhist integration of Sirattana Sub-District, Sirattana District, Sisaket Province, and 3) study problems, obstacles and recommendations for community development by Buddhist integration of Sirattana Sub-District, Sirattana District, Sisaket Province, The methodology was the mixed method between quantitative and qualitative research methods. The quantitative, the populations were 4,764 people who lived in the Sriratana sub-district municipality area and 369 samples sized by Taro Yamane’s formula. The tool used for collecting data was questionnaires and analyzed by frequency, mean, standard deviation. Hypotheses were  tested by t-test, F-test, one way ANOVA. The differences of pairs of means were tested by Least Significant Difference: LSD. The qualitative research, 8 key informants, purposefully selected, the tool was the structured in-depth-interview collecting data by in-depth-interview and data were analyzed by descriptive interpretation.

 

 

 

 

          Findings were as follows:

          1) People’s opinions about the community development by Buddhist integration of Sirattana sub-district municipality, Sirattana District, Sisaket Province, in overall, were at highest level with the average of 3.53, S.D. at 0.665. Considering by aspects, it was found that people’s opinions about social and environmental development were at high levels with the averages of 3.59, S.D. at 0.733 and 3.52, S.D. at 0.716 consecutively. The people’s opinion about the economic development was at moderate level with the average of 3.48, S.D. at 0.753

          2) Comparison of people’s opinions about the People’s opinions about the  community development by Buddhist integration of Sirattana sub-district municipality, Sirattana District, Sisaket Province, classified by the populations data; sex, age, status, and monthly incomes was that people with different sex, age, educational levels, status, occupation, and monthly incomes  had different opinions about the community development by Buddhist  integration of Sirattana sub-district municipality, Sirattana District, Sisaket Province at the statistically significant level at 0.05.

          3) Problems, obstacles and recommendations for the community development by Buddhist integration of Sirattana sub-district municipality, Sirattana District, Sisaket Province, were that; as for the aspect of social development, there were not graduate and vocational levels of educational institutes in the area. People in the community did not have cooperative activities in economical development. There was not resource person to help local people and farmers with new innovation to save expenses or to increase their productions. There was negligence of people’s way of life. As for the environmental aspect, it was found that there was not up-keeping and protection of the local environment. Dust, garbage,  sewage, drainage system were not sufficient that caused water pollution in the community. As for recommendations, municipality administrators should have an approach for  developmental structure to cover all areas in the community. And they should have modern equipment for further sustainable development.
