Role of Buddhist Monks in Social Development : A Case Study of the Network of Buddhist Monks golden land Development Muang District, AmnatChareon.

Abstract

 The purpose of this research were () to study the history and significance of the Buddhist monks golden land development, () to study the role of Buddhist monks in social development, and () to study the problem and success in social development of the network of Buddhist monks golden land development, Mauang district, Amnat Charoen. The Quality research was applied with in-dept interviews.

The finding of the research were as follows.

The golden land project development from integrated rural development . The project  former name was “In dream village project” there were the problems of rural development, psychological, social and economic. The project was developed to honor the ๖๐th anniversary of the king in B.E ๒๕๓๐.

The roles of Buddhist monks in social development were  in education. The Buddhist monks taught morality and ethics to the young children of kindergarten development center. In social assistance, the Buddhist monks promoted the career of people such as planting without poisonous chemical, herbal gardening and establishing saving group. In drug addiction, the Buddhist monks decrease the number of drug addicts by teaching the law of dependents, the law of unity and the law of practices, goodness, meditation and wisdom.

The purpose of Buddhist monks in social development, there were a lack of experience monks, both in knowledge and practice, Most of the Buddhist monks were –new becoming and they were ready to leave the monkhood according to tradition. There was also a lack of budget support from the monk chief, materials, and administration. The committee and the members of saving group lacked  ofcontinuous learning sincerity and responsibility. The kindergarten teacher did not participate and the parents of young children did not show this ideas. The location of drug –therapy center was not suitable because it was in the middle of community.

The success of establishing the saving group depended on the quality of committee. They should have leadership and clear vision. The success of education management in the kindergarten development center depended on PrakhuMongkonworrawat in selecting the quality teachers. The success of religious enlargement depended on  elucidation and verification, inspiration towards the goal encouragement and filling with delight and joy.
