Abstract

The objectives of this thesis were: 1) to study the concept and theory of general teaching, 2) to study an application of the Buddha’s style of teaching of the Buddha appeared in Tipitaka, and 3) to study the application of the Buddha’s style of teaching of the moral teaching monks in the schools at Phichit province.

The results of the research showed that the teaching means to tell the knowledge to make the understanding by telling the ways or doing the examples. Mostly, the people understood that the teaching is to transfer the knowledge by telling or explaining to make the understanding. The teachers are the person who knew and had the experience more than the students. However, the educationists explained that the teaching means the process of the interactive between the teachers and the students to change the expected behaviors: unknowing to knowing and undoing to doing etc.

Moreover, the results showed that before the sermon, the Buddha prepared the readiness of the people by the Buddha’s style of the teaching to make the motivation, spirit, and enjoyment in the body and the mind: making the faith to them, the persuasive speech, showing the miracle, the teaching media, the simile, the Chadok and the Anupubbikatha (a gradual instruction).

The application of the Buddha’s style of the teaching was the application the Buddha’s style of the teaching of the Buddha in the Dhamma or general teaching to make the understanding to the students by Sandassana (elucidation and verification), to make the students accepting in the values of the lessons by Samadapana (inspiration towards the goal), to make the students enthusiastic to study by Sumuttejana (encouragement), and to make the students happy and enjoyable to study by Sampahamsana (gladdening).
